Knock on wood, we seem to be on a slow and steady approach to some level of normalcy here in Ontario. We continue to trod through the stages of reopening, and so far, all holds stable & firm...
This past month showed a promising start of recovery in the crypto markets, and was also a fairly profitable month all around with all of my various projects.
My investment portfolio is up 4.03% over last month, and my gross income from my various projects was $1,339.49.
As always, here's the breakdown:
- $895 from Nicehash mining, the MVP as always. Includes gained value from mined earnings not yet transferred from mining account
- $275 from 3D print sales, owing mostly to a single expensive sale on Bonanza -- replica Halo rifle model in metal fill material
- $112 from Youtube ad revenue
- $110 from flipping
- $63 from Print on Demand sales, mostly Society6 with a touch of Redbubble
- $46 from Amazon Affiliates, marking a huge improvement over any other month
- $11 from 3d model sales on MyMiniFactory
- $8.14 from 3d print sales on Shapeways
- $1.73 in LBRY credits
- -$172 from algo trading, mostly losses on Bittrex
On the algo trading front, I haven't really been running Gekko Trader on my Poloniex account, so it's just been relatively static in it's holdings.
With my Bittrex bot, it's been suffering some losses from a combination of trades it can't complete (and therefore times out on after a few days), or outright lossy trades. Mostly on the BTC-FOL trading pair. Of which, it's currently decided EMADIV is the best algo for it, which has dropped in value even more while it sits on the coin on a Long position.
Though, if I hit the button to see what it would switch to if it wasn't actively holding something, I get BTC-MATIC with one of my convoluted strategies:
On the manual trading front on Coinsquare; I'm not sure what they did or why, but Coinsquare's public API for price fetching no longer works. I get a 403 Forbidden error. I need to replace all of my active Tipsters with ones querying Bittrex instead of Coinsquare; but I'm waiting on a bunch of orders to fill before I do that. I'm still up in BTC value over my starting base value though; although it's dropped a bit from last month--currently at 78.64% over my base value from manual trading.
I had a pretty decent month with Print on Demand and 3D model/print sales; and a one-off high value sale with a DIY replica Halo rifle kit in a metalfill material from Bonanza.
What really grabbed my attention this month was my successes with Amazon Affiliates. This is the first month I have ever done so well, with a combined $46 of affiliate revenue between the Canadian and American programs! I really hope this becomes the new norm...
On the Youtube front, my ad revenue saw another minor uptick over last month; though it does not fully tell the story of how well my channel is starting to recover. If I zoom out to a year-long outlook, you can see that my channel has started to curve back up in daily views as it starts to recover and grow from the low point.
To really capture improvement rates, let's take a look at July's metrics compared to June:
- Published four main videos, keeping on track with weekly release schedule
- At 3,460 subscribers; up 197 over last month
- Subscriber growth rate: 6.04%, slightly less than last month's 6.49%
- Average daily views throughout July: 546, a marked increase over last month's 474; or a 15.19% increase
- Average daily subscribers throughout July: 7, down from last month's 6; or a -12.5% drop
Now let's see how I handled the work item queue:
- Four new main 'Mike in the Woods' Youtube Videos
Completed - Stabilize cryptocurrency mining rigs 003 and 005 as much as possible
Completed, now to the point where 005 is fairly stable and 003 sometimes needs to be restarted if one of the GPUs gets too hot & craps out when it hits 90 degrees - Further steps on fixing Mining Rig 004 and returning it to active service
Initial investigation started; mostly been focused on 005 and 003 - Three
new listings in any combination of 3D Printing (MyMiniFactory &
Shapeways) OR Print on Demand (Redbubble, Society6, Teepublic, Zazzle)
Fell short here, I believe I only accomplished one 3d listing - Rejig Patreon Reward tiers to simplify, and re-implement as Youtube memberships
Completed, though I opted to not implement Youtube Memberships
All in all, did pretty good. Now here's my work item list for August:
- Four new main Mike in the Woods videos
- Further steps on fixing Mining Rig 004 and returning to active service
- Three new listings in any combination of 3D Printing (MyMiniFactory & Shapeways) OR Print on Demand (Redbubble, Society6, Teepublic, Zazzle)
- Investigate Proof of Capacity (hard drive mining) projects
- Continue to list Flipping listings, targeting 200 active listings (currently at 171)
- Clean up back log of work items of stuff that's no longer relevant
Last but not least, my investment portfolio:
Saw a modest 4.03% growth, mostly due to the crypto market starting to recover; ending my streak of MoM losses. Not quite my inane target of 6.5% monthly growth, but I'll take it! Especially when I'm still well above my target savings rate.
